We’re staying in the Residenza Paolo VI and we are – no shit – in an extra-territorial zone.

Yeah – climbed the Leaning Tower of Pisa
250-some-odd steps, after the 455 from the Duomo a couple days ago. Somehow, my legs have yet to hate me.
We hit a few museums yesterday.
The Academia, Bargello, and Uffizi. Today our wanderings pretty much had one rule: no art. But that’s another post.
“So what was your favorite meal in Florence?”
Well so far, the stand-out winner (not counting two fucking AWESOME gelato places) is Biancorosso (literally white-red). Their site seems to be down, yo, but this place is…Japanese.
Toby’s take on Florence, Part the 1st
Florence is busy. More so then Venice. Not sure I’d want to be here in the high tourist season when it’s 1) hot and 2) has a fuckton more people. But, on to the pictures… Outside the Uffitzi museum. Final Venice Pictures (from Toby)
From the Church of San Giorgio Maggiore, on the isle of the same name: I like light. And perspective. In what I assume to be the apse, where the choir resides: Up the nearby belltower, facing SW-ish: On the train to Florence (the window was filthy – that’s not a filter) The bridge from Venice:…

Switzerland isn’t what I expected
I knew in the abstract that Switzerland was composed of over a dozen (turns out it’s 26) cantons, and that different parts of the country were and are greatly influenced by their neighboring sovereign states. What I didn’t expect was how drastically different the country feels, depending on where you are. Our first stay was…
This is Rösti
This is also rösti: Before I go on, let me point out something we found on our last big trip – if Texas ever needs to secede, we can form the Texas Toast Axis with Japan. With that in mind – look at those pics. That is hash browns. Hash browns, egg, cheese, and in…
More pics from Lucerne
First, there was this tourist, but I guess she didn’t mind me snapping a pic: Heading up the steps above the Lion of Lucerne. WTF is a gate doing on a small cave? Now I’m sorry I asked. And here’s another one! No, creepy St. Nick, I will NOT join you in there. That is…
